Mi Frida is a Mixed Media piece. I am an artist who believes in second chances; under such directives is how I created this piece. This composition is done using upcycled materials and enamel and acrylic paints. The different properties of the materials signify the complexity of Frida’s artwork and their messages. The elements are in synch with the colors, textures, and placement. So different, yet together they complement each other. The contrast of the bright elements against the darker background, the softness of the wood placed alongside the cut-out metal, enhances Frida’s head silhouette crowned with roses, unavoidably drawing you in. Through the art I create elements that were once discarded, regain value as being part of something completely different from what they were originally intended for.
