Now a resident of Tampa, Florida, Donna M. Richardson was born and raised in New York to Jamaican parents, and worked 30 years as a teaching artist in NY and Florida public schools, inspiring the next generation of creative minds. Through art, her goal is to empower the growth and spiritual expression of all those she encounters.

Donna has developed a unique art style which she's coined, “Indie Pop Art”. Which celebrates the noble beauty and divine nature of people of indigenous descent, and contemporary American culture. What distinguishes her work is that she incorporates her love of aboriginal dot painting and the use of negative and positive space to weave across canvases, drawing power from roots deep in sacred African and Native American art, spirituality, and ritual.

Donna’s works have been featured in acclaimed art exhibitions around Florida like the Orlando Museum of Art, Church Street Gallery, Winter Gardens Lofts, A.E. “Beanie” Backus Gallery, and NOVA Southeastern University. Her recent work, “The Bluest Eye” won Best of Show in the “BOOKISH” members art exhibition at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL which earned her a solo exhibition at the gallery in the Spring of 2023.
