I am Miriam, a Latina artist and teaching artist. I have taught over 2,500 art apprentices from age 8 to 82 in person and online. I am a registered artist with a disability through Arts4All FL, a Certified Zentangle Meditative Arts Teacher and Level I and II Intermodal Expressive Arts Practitioner. My Art has been featured in art galleries and festivals throughout the State of FL. After a successful career as a business consultant, I came to art through the Arts in Medicine (AIM) studio at Moffitt Cancer Center. After a significant surgery, using the studio, and establishing a daily healing-arts practice, my body and life changed.

As an Emerging and “Outsider” Artist who did not come through the traditional route, my art brings awareness to body loss; death; genetics - finding my roots and bridging my Guatemalan heritage and American upbringing to bridge both worlds together for healing; and mother nature’s botanicals. I am known for creating art that talks about things we don't want to talk about. I believe in the Power of Art to heal.
